“Man can do nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets for himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.”
I shot this picture in the historic Inner Harbor, Baltimore. The structures stand there in the busy harbor isolated and abandoned, relics from another time. The slowly decaying poles are fortified with steel cables and metal plates on the top section to keep the wood together. Standing there I contemplated about the passage of time. I wondered how the harbor might have looked like a century ago?
